Greg Mauro

Greg Mauro is the Founder and Managing Partner at Learn Capital, a venture capital firm specializing in education technology investments. He has played a pivotal role in overseeing the firm's investment strategy and has been instrumental in backing notable companies such as Coursera, Udemy, General Assembly, and Edmodo, the latter being the world's largest social network for learning, which has over 100 million users.123

Before establishing Learn Capital in 2008, Mauro co-founded several successful startups, including SmartDrive, recognized as a Wall Street Journal Top 50 Startup, and Tachyon, which was a precursor to SpaceX's Starlink technology. His ventures have collectively raised over $500 million in venture capital.124 Mauro also co-founded Higher Ground Education, the largest Montessori operator globally, and has served on the board of NewGlobe, which has expanded its reach from one school to over 8,000, impacting more than three million students across Africa and India.123

Mauro's background includes a stint as a strategy consultant for Monitor Group and a significant involvement with educational initiatives, such as serving on the foundation board for High Tech High. He holds a degree from UCLA’s College of Honors and has an extensive interest in outdoor activities, being the owner of Powder Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States.45 His diverse experiences have been featured in major publications like The New York Times and The Atlantic.1
