Greg Fenton is the co-founder of RedShelf, a leading digital learning materials company. He founded RedShelf in 2011 with Tim Haitaian to reduce course material costs and improve access through innovative digital technology.15 Under Fenton's leadership, RedShelf grew from a startup to a major player in the higher education market, driving the acceptance of digital textbooks and student access programs.1
Fenton served as CEO of RedShelf until February 28, 2024, when he transitioned to the role of Board Chairman.13 In his new position, he focuses on strategy, innovation, and industry relations.3 During his tenure as CEO, RedShelf expanded to deliver digital course materials from over 600 publishers to more than 1,400 institutions, serving millions of students annually.1
Before founding RedShelf, Fenton co-founded Virdocs Software, LLC in 2010, which offered HTML5 cloud-reader technology for digital content distribution.2 RedShelf emerged as a product of Virdocs Software, revolutionizing commerce for digital content in the education sector.2
Fenton graduated from Miami University and is originally from Birmingham, Michigan, but currently resides in Chicago.5 He has been recognized for his entrepreneurial achievements, including being named a finalist for the 2019 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.4
