As Chief Technology Officer, I oversaw all areas of technology operations including IT purchasing, IT finance, data center operations, application development, database management and project management.  My direct reports included six vice-presidents managing over 400 employees and 200 contractors.  

I planned and lead the in-sourcing of data center operations by migrating from three legacy outsourced data centers to two new leased data center cages.  This effort took 18 months and was completed within budget with no major disruptions to the business.  

Other significant accomplishments during my tenure included:
- overseeing the technology efforts of moving corporate headquarters to Thanksgiving Tower in Dallas
- implementing two new lines of business, implementing systems to support Chrysler Capital
- participating in the process of becoming a publicly traded company on the NYSE
- representing information technology in federal, state, industry and business partner audits including semi-annual audits with the Federal Reserve

As Chief Infrastructure Architect, I managed a team of senior technicians that set infrastructure standards for all Sabre Holdings lines of business.  I was also responsible for several teams of architects, database administrators, project managers and developers located in four countries who developed and supported three revenue generating products for the airline industry.

In the five years at Sabre, I established technology standards and governance processes that set infrastructure standards that saved the company more than $5 million per year in acquisition and operating costs.  These efforts reduced the number of different server models purchased each year from over twenty unique server models from three major vendors to two server models from one vendor simplifying and reducing the company’s operational footprint.  This reduced the total server spend by over $6 million in 2008 and $5 million in 2009 compared to the total server spend in 2007.  Other major accomplishments included assisting in the negotiations of multiple unlimited license deployment agreement and multi-year vendor contracts.  I also managed the relationship with key technology vendors including Oracle, VMware, EMC and NetApp.  

In 2008, I was selected to be one of sixteen vice presidents to participate in a Sabre executive education program created by SMU in Dallas.  The program brought together Sabre’s top executive leaders for a one-year program to strengthen leadership skills and connections across business units around the world.

During my first month at Sabre, I established a team of core team DBAs from across the company that was able to create the first set of companywide standards for database, reporting and data replication platforms.  In the first nine months, I was able to work with storage vendors and the outsourced operations provider to reduce Sabre’s storage costs by $1,000,000 per year and $500,000 in database licenses.

Director Data Strategy

My responsibilities as Director of Data Strategy were to create multi-year technology plans and to coordinate data, database and storage activities across the business units in the Travelport at the time was Cendant's Travel Distribution Services Division.  This included evaluating new technologies, mentoring technology teams, negotiating contracts with vendors and designing and approving system architectures.  In 2004, I led the data and storage architecture efforts for the redesign of Galileo’s airfare shopping and pricing storage system.  As a result, storage related outages were eliminated and operational expenses were reduced by more than $2,000,000 per year.

I was responsible for the development, implementation and support of Delta's Enterprise Customer Database which is the successor to the SkyMiles customer database.  This included HR responsibility for nine Java and C++ developers, management of a $5 million annual budget, system design, development, implementation, support and application integration.  I was also responsible for a team of developers from Worldspan and their development on the TPF mainframe.  The technologies that I was responsible for on this project included Java and C++ services running in Tuxedo on HP/UX servers, XML messaging standards, Oracle and DB2 databases, TPF mainframe systems, integration with applications such as Delta.com, MYOBT.com, reservations and gate applications, and data extracts for the Customer Data Warehouse.
