George Menzel
Vice President, Shared Engineering Services at Magic Leap
George Menzel is a seasoned Principal Program Manager Lead at Microsoft, boasting more than 20 years of experience in the tech industry. George's journey at Microsoft began as a Software Test Engineer, where he focused on display adapter and graphics driver validation. He went on to become the Test Lead and then the PM Lead, where he was responsible for various relationships with key Graphics companies such as Intel, NVIDIA, and ATI (AMD). George later worked on the Application Model team for 4 years, helping build the new UWP platform for Windows throughout Windows 8 before transitioning to lead the Bluetooth team at the beginning of the Windows 10 product cycle. He managed Bluetooth for 5 years before moving to pick up the USB and other internal simple-peripheral-buses, Camera Platform including Computer Vision skills, and the Sensors and Windows Driver Framework technologies. Currently, George is part of the Core Operating Systems and Intelligent Edge team within Azure. His journey at Microsoft is dotted with excellence, from leading teams to building new platforms and technologies.
Born and raised in Washington, George attended Everett Community College, where he studied Criminal Justice/Police Science. He also spent time in the US Marine Corps as an E-4 Corporal Bulk Fuel Specialist. George's interests lie on building cutting-edge technologies and platforms that make a difference in people's lives. He is passionate about building strong relationships with key Graphics companies such as Intel, NVIDIA, and ATI (AMD), among others. George currently lives in Cle Elum, WA, with his wife and two children.
