Gaurav Bhalotia

Gaurav Bhalotia is a highly experienced professional with close to 15 years of expertise in architecting, implementing, and leading the development of large-scale distributed systems, machine learning, and information retrieval algorithms.

During his tenure as Vice President of Engineering at Flipkart, Gaurav Bhalotia spearheaded the management and growth of multiple platforms, playing a pivotal role in establishing a robust technology organization in India.

Prior to his role at Flipkart, he served as the Director of Engineering at Kosmix (later WalmartLabs), where he successfully led cross-functional engineering and product teams in the creation of a local search engine and the development of the initial version of their categorization engine.

Gaurav then transitioned to managing the India operations for Retrevo, a US-based search engine company, before embarking on his current journey as an independent consultant and advisor, collaborating with numerous early-stage startups.

Gaurav's educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of California Berkeley.

His academic achievements are further complemented by his contributions to the field, demonstrated through multiple filed patents and numerous conference publications focused on Search, Categorization, and Information Extraction.

In addition to his professional engagements, Gaurav Bhalotia has been actively involved in various organizations, serving as the Founder of Millioneyes Healthcare Technologies, an Angel Investor/Advisor to early-stage startups, Chief Consultant at Bahutbadhiya Labs, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Trusting Social, Director of India Development Center at Retrevo (acquired by Shopzilla), Director of Engineering at Kosmix Corporation, and Senior Member of Technical Staff at Oracle Corporation.
