Gary Griggs is a Distinguished Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), where he has taught for over 54 years.28 He served as the Director of the Institute of Marine Sciences at UCSC for 26 years, from 1991 to 2017.57
