Ftoon AlThaedi

Ftoon AlThaedi is a Saudi artist and arts professional with a diverse background in public art, art residencies, and community engagement.24 She is the founder of the Saudi Art Initiative and has worked as a Community Engagement Manager for Riyadh Art at National TalentS Company.3

AlThaedi's artwork often addresses societal issues and breaks from tradition. She gained recognition for her digital painting depicting herself driving a car, celebrating the landmark decision allowing women to drive in Saudi Arabia.1 Her art also tackles topics such as discrimination faced by people with Down syndrome.1

As an alumna of the Student Leaders Program hosted by Montana State University in 2017, AlThaedi has developed leadership skills and expanded her understanding of civil society.1 This experience has encouraged her participation in various events and conferences, boosting her confidence to implement projects in her society.1

AlThaedi's work has been featured on Saudi national TV, showcased in galleries across Riyadh, and displayed at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, where she studied Visual Arts and Design.1 Her Saudi Art Initiative, which she began developing during the Student Leaders Program, has gained support from the Saudi Arabian Society for Arts and Culture.16

Currently, Ftoon AlThaedi works as a content developer for the Noor Riyadh Festival, continuing to challenge traditional constraints through her art and community engagement efforts.45
