President at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy
Evan M. Glazer, Ph.D., is the President of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), having assumed the role on July 1, 2021. He was selected following a comprehensive national search and is recognized for his extensive experience in leading specialized STEM schools. Prior to joining IMSA, Dr. Glazer served as the Head of School at Avenues: The World School in New York, which is an independent K-12 institution with a global presence.
Dr. Glazer is an Illinois native and has a strong background in mathematics and instructional technology, holding a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of Georgia. His career includes leadership positions at notable institutions such as Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and Roanoke Valley Governor’s School for Science and Technology, both of which are recognized for their rigorous academic programs.
Throughout his career, Dr. Glazer has focused on fostering interdisciplinary and project-based learning environments, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion within educational settings. He is also known for his commitment to student engagement, often collaborating with teachers and students in innovative learning initiatives.12
