Patient-Powered Health and Research Advocate
Eva A. May is an entrepreneurial leader and patient advocate with a strong background in patient-centered research, design, and engagement. She has dedicated herself to becoming a patient-powered health and research advocate since 2014.1
Eva holds an MBA in Marketing from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina.1 Her professional experience includes:
- Founding and leading a national multicultural advertising agency focused on helping Latino immigrants thrive in the US.1
- Serving as VP of Marketing for a startup breast cancer research foundation in Sioux Falls, SD, where she worked directly with professionals in breast cancer research and treatment.2
- Actively participating in various national clinical trial initiatives, including:
- Breast Immuno-Oncology (BIO) Task Force of the NCI Breast Cancer Steering Committee
- NCI Patient Advocate Steering Committee (PASC)
- Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology1

Her personal experience with breast cancer and subsequent discovery of carrying a BRCA2 mutation led her to shift her career focus towards patient-powered research and personalized healthcare.1 Eva is particularly interested in developing bi-directional researcher-patient community partnerships to improve diversity in clinical trials and empower patients to become successful self-advocates.1
