Ethan Jewett

Ethan Jewett serves as the Regional Commissioner for the West at the Baden-Powell Service Association (BPSA), an organization dedicated to providing an inclusive scouting experience. He founded the 55th Cascadia Scouts in 2013, which is one of the largest groups under the BPSA umbrella, emphasizing a welcoming environment for all children, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.1

Jewett's background includes being a Boy Scout during a time when the organization was marked by exclusivity. His experiences motivated him to create an alternative that aligns more closely with the original values of scouting—self-reliance, good citizenship, and outdoor skills—while ensuring inclusivity and acceptance for diverse families.1 Under his leadership, the BPSA has grown to about 2,500 members across 70 groups nationwide, positioning itself as a smaller, volunteer-based alternative to traditional scouting organizations like the Boy Scouts of America.13

In addition to his role in scouting, Jewett has a professional background in technology and consulting. He currently holds the position of Senior Director of DevOps at Mindset Consulting, LLC, where he has worked since early 2023. His career spans various roles in technology and consulting since 2005, showcasing his expertise in development and operations.2

Jewett's commitment to inclusivity in scouting reflects a broader movement within the BPSA to redefine what it means to be a scout today, making it accessible to everyone who wishes to participate.13
