Eric L Hansen is a seasoned artist who is passionate about helping emerging artists achieve financial viability while pursuing their love for fine art. With a background in visual arts, particularly in printmaking and lens-based art, Eric has successfully transitioned from being a university professor to a full-time working artist with representation in galleries across the US and Western Europe.
Eric's approach with Shortcut, a program designed to accelerate financial success for artists, is geared towards early-stage artists looking to make their day job optional. Through talks, intensives, and one-on-one coaching, Eric shares his practical strategies and experiences to guide artists towards making a living from their art in a shorter timeframe.
His educational journey includes a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, an MBA in Health Care and Accounting from the University of Chicago, and a BFA in Creative Writing and Theatre from Newark College of the Arts. With a diverse educational background blending business and creativity, Eric brings a unique perspective to the intersection of art and entrepreneurship.
Eric's contributions extend beyond his personal art practice, as he has been actively involved in various organizations such as The Shortcut Project, Nashville Entrepreneur Center, Art & Soul, ArtCamp, Nashville Creative Group, Belmont University, and California State University, Long Beach. His passion for fostering entrepreneurship within the arts community is evident through his mentorship and instigation roles.
Choosing not to adhere to the 'starving artist' stereotype, Eric advocates for artists to make prosperous choices in their careers. By sharing his journey from academia to a successful art career, Eric encourages artists to strive for financial independence while dedicating themselves to their craft.
