Elena A. Saxton
Elena A. Saxton is an Exhibit Designer at Smithsonian Exhibits (SIE), formerly known as the Office of Exhibits Central. She has worked on several notable projects for various Smithsonian museums:
Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM)
- Collaborated with SIE designer Madeline Wan on the installation "The Automobile and American Art" at SAAM, which featured over 130 model cars donated by collector Albert H. Small.25
National Air and Space Museum (NASM)
- Designed a tactile engine prototype for NASM's "Nation of Speed" exhibition, which allows visitors to understand how engines generate speed and how they can be modified to go faster.3
Other Projects
- Assisted with the development and production of interactives, models, and tactile elements for the exhibition "Life in One Cubic Foot".4
- Worked with SIE designer Madeline Wan on the exhibition "Magnificent Obsessions" at the Smithsonian Libraries.56
Prior to joining SIE, Saxton gained experience as a Freelance Exhibit Production Specialist at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, an Exhibition Coordinator Intern at The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum, and as an Exhibit Fabricator at Design and Production, Inc.1
Saxton holds a Master's Degree from the Corcoran School of the Arts + Design at George Washington University.
