Christen O'Brien is a versatile and accomplished professional with years of experience in the startup and venture capital world. She has been a Partner at Scribble Ventures, where she leads market development for the portfolio. She invests in VC funds, as well as non-profit conservation orgs, that are building a better future. She also writes about protecting nature, conservation, and what everyday people can do. Before that, she was CMO at NFX (nfx.com), the top seed-stage VC started by entrepreneurs who previously founded 10 companies that exited for >$10 Billion. She was also Co-Founding Partner at 500 Startups, one of the world's leading seed funds and startup accelerators, where she invested in Canva, Twilio, Grab, Credit Karma, Talkdesk, Intercom, Udemy, and GitLab, among others. Her personal writing (christenobrien.com) has been featured on The Today Show, MSNBC, Medium, & more, and she has been selected by BLKSHP, in partnership with Pixar co-founder Ed Catmull, for "The New Renaissance" project. One of her essays is currently being made into a documentary by a group of award-winning filmmakers in NYC who worked with President Barack Obama, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Warren Buffett, Ken Burns, and others.
Christen holds a B.A. in Communications & Business from the University of Southern California. Prior to her roles at Scribble Ventures, NFX, and 500 Startups, she also worked as the Founder & CEO at reWired, Director at International Business Development (IBD) Network/Dealmaker Media, Associate at Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin, Peace Corps Volunteer at Peace Corps, and Marketing Associate (hired full-time after an internship) at Littler Mendelson.
