In a Senior Advisory role I am helping, Abbott Laboratories, a >$40bn global diagnostics leader to introduce, Lingo, its new consumer biowearables business through market defining Strategic Partnerships that both enhance & scale this exciting proposition.

Lingo biowearables is a new category of health tech that measures your body’s biomarkers in real-time. Biowearables help us to learn about our bodies at a deeper level to personalise the way we eat, sleep, exercise to live healthier and fuller lives & prevent diseases.

Medic Creations develops digital tools that re-invent possibilities for communication for healthcare professionals and patients. 

Led by clinicians & technologists who understand the needs of the nurses and doctors, its first product, Medic Bleep is  replacing the defunct "pager network" used by hospitals and community providers. The digital pager, already used by more than 500 clinical professionals is poised to expand rapidly as it supports new ways of working that make healthcare delivery safer, easier, effective & efficient.

Building on advances in genomics and data technologies, precision medicine combines accurate diagnosis with rules-based interventions, and is expected to transform medical treatments and care in the coming decades, improving outcomes for patients and the healthcare system. A value of £14bn has been put on the global market for tests, therapies and solutions, and this is expected to grow to £50-60nbn in 2020. My role was to develop the symbiotic healthcare / university platforms that would support the development of the sector.

Innovate UK is the national government innovation agency. In 2013 the Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills announced that a new UK catapult centre would be established to build on the UKs international position to make the UK the best place in the world for precision medicine.

I developed the business plan, strategies and confidence across the academic community that allowed this £50m investment to be signed off and established the centres of excellence.

Buddy is a digital tool to support therapy services. Clients use text messaging to keep a daily diary of what they are doing and how they are feeling, helping to spot and reinforce positive behaviours.

Buddy believes the best outcomes are realised when we bring together formal professional-led services, and informal people-powered care. We want to see the NHS benefit from the emergence of cheaper, accessible, consumer technologies, and we want to see technology benefit from the experience and human support that professionals can best provide.

Monitor (now NHS Improvement) is the sector regulator for health services in England. Our job is to protect and promote the interests of patients by ensuring that the whole sector works for their benefit.

Led the NHS Futures Programme across the $180bn English NHS to describe future models of provision needed for transformation and what activities the health system needs to take to get there.  We guided and commissioned papers from international experts, bringing together 100 leaders in the English health system. I developed the first joint strategic innovation board across NHS regulators & commissioners to take forward recommendations, which served as the platform for the Five Year Forward View. I also had input into issues such as innovative NHS pricing / payment methods, quality and competition frameworks and led on Mental Health policy for the regulator. I also developed the first internal quality manual for the organisation to provide the support necessary to embed quality culture.
