Dylan Field
American technology executive
Dylan Field is an American technology executive best known as the co-founder and CEO of Figma, a web-based vector graphics editing software company. Born in 1992, he co-founded Figma in 2012 with Evan Wallace while they were both studying computer science at Brown University. Field received a Thiel Fellowship that year, which provided him with $100,000 to leave school and focus on building Figma full-time. This decision led him and Wallace to relocate to San Francisco, where they spent four years developing the software before its public release in 2016.1
Under Field's leadership, Figma has grown significantly, attracting major clients such as Microsoft, Airbnb, and Uber. The company was valued at $10 billion in 2021, and Field himself is estimated to own about 10% of Figma's stock, making him a near-billionaire.1 Despite early challenges in management and fundraising, Field has emphasized the importance of user feedback, often engaging directly with customers to improve the product. His approach to product development combines intuition with data-driven decision-making, striving to keep the design process simple and effective.13
Field's career has been marked by accolades, including being named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 list in 2015. He continues to lead Figma as it evolves in the competitive landscape of design tools, focusing on integrating new technologies and expanding its user base.12
