Dr. Matthew Lange (兰梦晓) is a renowned professional with a doctorate in Food Science and Technology from UC Davis. With a strong background in food, biological, and health sciences, he has dedicated his career to advancing information and education technologies in the food, health, and agricultural sectors.
As the CEO and Chief Science Officer of the International Center for Food Ontology Operability Data and Semantics (IC-FOODS), Dr. Lange spearheads global initiatives to develop semantic and AI cyberinfrastructure for the emerging Internet of Food (IoF). This enterprise-scale knowledge infrastructure, based on semantic web standards, aims to revolutionize food production, processing, delivery, and consumption, enabling the creation of innovative, traceable, and environmentally sustainable foods and products tailored for individual health and satisfaction.
Prior to leading IC-FOODS, Dr. Lange imparted his knowledge as a lecturer at UC Davis, teaching Food Product Innovation and Development to Food Science seniors and graduate-level database engineering classes at the UC Davis School of Medicine. His diverse educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Community Nutrition & International Economic Development, studies in International Relations and Biology, and completion of his PhD specializing in Health Informatics within Food Science and Technology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lange has held key roles in various organizations, including positions at ICICLE, University of California, Davis, University of California, Davis - School of Medicine, FDA, and Tyco. With a wealth of experience in research, knowledge engineering, informatics, teaching, and executive leadership, he continues to drive advancements in the intersection of science, technology, and food-related industries.
