The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Advisory Board was established in 1981 to provide a dialogue between external audiences and the School's Dean and faculty. The activities and interests of the Board include all areas of the School's work.

The mission of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Advisory Board is fourfold:
- To bring diverse insights and expertise to bear on issues critical to the success of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health;
- To increase the School’s resources and base of support;
- To serve as an advocacy arm for the School, apprising the private and public sectors of the School’s educational, research, service and consultative capacities; and
- To present the School’s interests and concerns to the University’s Board of Trustees.

Restructured the regional Communications function. Recruited leaders for each sub-region and built teams capable of delivering on internal and external communications with emphasis on change management during the Medtronic-Covidien integration and external thought leadership on VBHC.
