Douglas Kelley is an accomplished researcher studying the space and time dynamics of fluid flows and the materials involved in these processes. His research spans various applications such as liquid metal batteries for grid-scale energy storage, ecological dynamics of marine phytoplankton, Earth's magnetic field, and fundamental physics of mixing.
With a strong educational background, Douglas Kelley holds a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, a PhD in Physics from the University of Maryland, and an MS in Physics from Auburn University. He also pursued further studies at LAMP.
Professionally, Douglas Kelley has held positions as an Associate Professor and previously Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester. He has also served as a Senior Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and held roles at various other institutions including the University of New Haven, Yale University, University of Maryland, Auburn Physics Department, as well as serving as a Systems Engineer at Corning Cable Systems and an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech.
