    Doug Root is a co-founder and managing partner of Blackfin Real Estate Investors and Iron Fish Construction, focusing on high-quality multifamily properties in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and the Carolinas.

    With expertise in acquisitions, investor relations, and asset management, Mr. Root oversees the investment portfolio of Blackfin Real Estate Investors, engaging in managing and repositioning assets for optimal competitive positioning.

    Additionally, he co-founded Iron Fish Construction, a general contracting company catering to institutional apartment owners, offering renovation and maintenance services across 11 states.

    Prior to his current ventures, Mr. Root served as a Managing Director of Investments at Greystar, handling acquisition, disposition, financing, and asset management responsibilities, acquiring around $1.2 billion of apartments during his tenure.

    His professional journey also includes working in the Acquisitions Group of Invesco Real Estate, closing over $1.4 billion in transactions across multifamily, office, retail, and industrial sectors.

    Doug Root holds an MBA with a concentration in real estate and finance from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a Certificate in Markets and Management from Duke University, where he excelled as a two-time All-American on the Men’s Tennis Team.

    Actively involved in various organizations, Mr. Root is a member of The Economic Club of Washington, DC Real Estate Group, Project Healing Waters, and serves on the Board of the Arlington Free Clinic.
