Doug Brownstone: Bringing Real-World Experience to Rutgers MBA Students
Doug Brownstone is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice with the Management & Global Business department at Rutgers Business School. He teaches a variety of courses to MBA students, including Integrated Business Applications (Team Consulting), Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Strategy, and Strategic Management.12
Before joining Rutgers, Brownstone spent his career in Corporate America, working at companies like Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, and Novartis. During his time at Novartis, he worked on strategy for the company's global over-the-counter drug business while living in Geneva, Switzerland as an expatriate.1
Brownstone brings his extensive business experience into the classroom by teaching from real-world situations and asking students what they would do in those scenarios. He believes this approach is helpful for MBA students who will soon be making decisions in board rooms and getting new jobs or promotions at their companies.1
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Brownstone works with MBA students outside the classroom as a mentor and through the annual business plan competition. He has also helped fund and support students who have started businesses during the MBA program, such as Surf, Turf and Earth, a restaurant in Somerville, and Emma's Premium Services, a business expanding into California.1
Brownstone's LinkedIn profile confirms his role at Rutgers Business School and provides additional details about his experience, including creating and teaching the Mini-MBA program on Innovation at Rutgers Business School - Executive Education.3
