Devin Girod
Southeast Director of Philanthropy at The Trust for Public Land
Devin Girod is currently the Vice President for Philanthropy and Engagement at Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMUC).12 He assumed this role on August 15, 2022, after being selected following a national search.1
Prior to his current position at TAMUC, Girod worked at The Trust for Public Land (TPL), a U.S. non-profit organization.1 His career at TPL included the following roles:
- Texas Director of Philanthropy (starting in 2017)
- Southeast Director of Philanthropy (based in Atlanta, Georgia)
During his time at TPL, Girod achieved significant accomplishments:
- Raised approximately $35 million for TPL and its partners
- Expanded donor bases in Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee
- Led TPL's first campaign in Texas
- Secured a $9 million grant and other lead gifts for TPL's work in Georgia
- Received TPL's inaugural "Conservation Trailblazer" award in 2021
Previous Experience
Before joining TPL, Girod had already worked at Texas A&M University-Commerce as the Senior Director of Development.1 He also served as the Director of Alumni Affairs at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, accumulating over a decade of leadership experience in philanthropy and engagement.1
Education
Girod holds two degrees from the University of Louisiana at Monroe:
- Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications
- Master of Arts in Communications
In his current role at TAMUC, Girod is responsible for directing all fundraising efforts, fostering a culture of giving, and overseeing various philanthropic programs to benefit students, employees, and the A&M-Commerce Foundation Board.1
