Robert Kent
Associate Vice President and Texas State Director at The Trust for Public Land
Robert Kent is a prominent figure in Texas land conservation and park development. He served as the Associate Vice President and Texas State Director at The Trust for Public Land (TPL) from 2019 to 2024.13 During his decade-long tenure at TPL, Kent led significant initiatives to expand green spaces and improve park accessibility in Dallas and across Texas.12
Key accomplishments under Kent's leadership at TPL include:
- Acquiring over 400 acres of land for new parks in Dallas.12
- Helping pass two bond packages providing over $655 million for parks and trails.12
- Increasing the percentage of Dallas residents with a park within a 10-minute walk from 54% to 73%.12
- Preserving the 300-acre Big Cedar Wilderness in southwest Dallas.23
- Leading the Dallas Greening Initiative.23
- Executing the Five Mile Creek Greenbelt project, creating 17 miles of new trails connecting three signature parks in Dallas' Oak Cliff neighborhood.23
Prior to his role at TPL, Kent served as the Policy Director for the North Texas Commission.12 He holds a BA from Baylor University in economics and environmental science, and an MSc from the University of Glasgow in international economic development.2
As of June 17, 2024, Kent will be joining Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) as their new Chief Philanthropy Officer, where he will lead the philanthropy department and provide strategic vision for the organization's community impact initiatives.12
