Derrick LaPoint

Derrick LaPoint is an experienced leader with a strong background in government administration, specializing in community building, communication, economic development, and planning. He holds a Master's degree in Geography with a focus on Urban Planning & Community Development from the University of North Dakota. Derrick has served in various roles, including President/CEO at Downtown Moorhead Incorporated, Community Development Coordinator at The City of Fargo, Planner at The City of Fargo, and Manager of Land Entitlement at TMI Hospitality. Additionally, he has interned for the Town of Speedway in Indiana. Prior to his career in government administration, Derrick had a successful stint as a professional hockey player for teams like Reading Royals, Syracuse Crunch, and Peoria Rivermen Hockey Club. He also shares his expertise as a Hockey Camp Coach at Top Dog Hockey.
