Deborah Keogh
Head of Engagement at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
Deborah Keogh is the Knowledge Exchange Manager and Innovation Studio Project Director at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS).13 In her role, she focuses on developing the Conservatoire's relationships with the wider world and fostering connections between academia and the arts.
As part of the Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) department at RCS, Keogh contributes to the institution's efforts to create impact through artistic research and knowledge exchange.1 The RKE department, also known as 'the Exchange,' aims to support and inspire research and knowledge exchange across the Conservatoire, helping staff pursue their own projects and create work with lasting impact.1
Keogh is involved in managing initiatives that support RCS graduates in their early careers. For instance, she oversees the Make It Happen Fund, which provides funding for enterprising graduates to help kickstart their creative ideas.2 In her capacity as Head of Engagement (interim), she has emphasized the importance of providing access to funding for graduates in the years following their graduation, recognizing its potential to have a significant impact on their professional and personal growth.2
Her professional background includes experience in various roles within the arts and cultural sector. Prior to her current position, Keogh has worked as a Co-Producer, Chief Executive Officer, and Project Producer in different organizations.3
At RCS, Keogh is part of a team of lecturers and researchers led by Professor Stephen Broad, who heads the Research and Knowledge Exchange department.1 Her work contributes to the Conservatoire's mission of creating world-leading research in and through the performing arts, while also fostering connections between the institution and diverse communities.1
