Debbie Sasson
Debbie Sasson is a passionate educator who specializes in Jewish education, Israel studies, and history. She has over 10 years of experience working with middle and high school students and was named PBS teacher innovator of the year in 2013.
Sasson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Middle Eastern Studies from Emory University, a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education from Manhattanville College, and has studied Near and Middle Eastern Studies at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
She has worked with various organizations, including the Center for Israel Education (CIE), Ramah Darom, Israeli-American Council (IAC), Hub Central ATL, The Epstein School, and Horace Greeley High School. At CIE, Sasson serves as a Young Adult Israel Learning Specialist, where she leads the Teen Israel Leadership Institute program.12
The Teen Israel Leadership Institute connects high school students with content and context to build individual capacities to learn, belong, and own Israel's story.1 In the last eight years, CIE has engaged thousands of high school students from around the world in their in-person workshops and online Israel programming.1
During summers, Debbie works at Camp Ramah Darom, where she trains staff, works with campers, and enjoys nature in the North Georgia mountains.
