Dawei Yin

Dawei Yin is an accomplished Engineering Director currently working at Baidu Inc., where he manages the search science team and oversees various scientific efforts including web search, question answering, video search, image search, news search, and app search.

With a rich professional background, Dawei has previously served as a Senior Director, leading the recommendation engineering team at JD.com from 2016 to 2020. Before that, he held the position of Senior Research Manager at Yahoo Labs, where he spearheaded the relevance science team and was responsible for Core Search Relevance of Yahoo Search.

Dawei Yin holds a Ph.D. (2013), M.S. (2010) from Lehigh University, a B.S. (2006) from Shandong University, and was an M.Phil. student at The University of Hong Kong from 2007 to 2008. His educational journey has equipped him with a strong foundation in Computer Science.

His research interests encompass a wide array of topics including data mining, applied machine learning, information retrieval, and recommender systems. Dawei has an impressive track record of publishing over 80 research papers in top-tier conferences and journals, and has received accolades such as the WSDM2016 Best Paper Award, KDD2016 Best Paper Award, WSDM2018 Best Student Paper Award, and ICHI 2019 Best Paper Honorable Mention.
