Senior Software Engineer

I was the first full-time engineer to work on GraphQL adoption at Twitter, a multi-year project to move away from a REST API to GraphQL. Over 4 years I worked on many projects building infrastructure to support GraphQL adoption, as well as performing various migrations and feature adoptions myself.

As Tech Lead I was responsible for overall direction and long-term vision for GraphQL adoption on the platform, roadmapping, onboarding team members and providing support to over 100 engineers.

Led design of command line tooling used by all iOS engineers at the company to process GraphQL documents and generate Swift code using Apple's SwiftSyntax library.

Prior to working on GraphQL I was part of the Live Events feature team. I onboarded two new teammates and managed an intern. We built a high quality, flexible page within the app for news and sports events which subsequently powered Moments in the Explore tab. I led a number of features, some across multiple platforms (iOS/Android/Web) including a multi-video component for breaking news and world events.

Led iOS engineering for an event discovery/booking platform as well as a cinema listing & ticketing product, Cinema Club.

Part of a cross-functional team building Yahoo Fantasy Football for iOS. Investigated and implemented various mobile architectures including Model-View-ViewModel and VIPER. Analysed and optimised performance for critical metrics including cold start and frame rate. Implemented functional tests with KIF and snapshot-based testing.

I did iOS & Android development for titles including Jamie Oliver's 20 Minute Meals, Jamie's Recipes, and Touchfit: Georges St-Pierre, as well as an unreleased project for Google.

On iOS, worked extensively with a number of technologies including Core Data, Core Animation and Core Graphics.

Software Engineer

Managed a team of 4 developers producing high-quality bespoke websites and web-based applications using Zend Framework on the LAMP stack. In my role as full-stack engineer I also did significant client-side work with jQuery, YUI and Ext JS.

As lead developer I was responsible for not only overseeing development, but also improving internal process and training. The introduction of Zend Framework along with improvements in software engineering process lead to better code quality and reduced development and maintenance cycles.

I also gained significant experience in server administration and system architectures, including Amazon Web Services.
