David Ross, a Ph.D. holder from the University of Toronto in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, is a renowned computer vision researcher and software engineering manager at Google. David leads the Visual Information and Dynamics team, which focuses on discovering new ways to understand video, emphasizing object, motion, and action recognition. His team created the Tensorflow Object Detection API and developed models for Google Photos and Cloud Video Intelligence to help power personal video understanding. David has been published in top academic conferences and organized the AVA Challenge, which advances the state-of-the-art spatiotemporal action recognition in video. Before leading the Visual Information and Dynamics unit, David led YouTube Mix, which created the personalized algorithmic radio feature in YouTube Music.
