David Nides

David Nides, a cybersecurity expert with extensive experience in internal investigations and forensic technology, has made significant contributions to KPMG's Forensic Technology Services (FTS) practice in the US and Asia Pacific regions. During his two-year tenure as an investigator with KPMG's Office of General Counsel, David managed over 200 investigations involving electronic data preservation, analysis, and presentation, covering sensitive matters such as government inquiries, security incidents, and employee misconduct.

David's experience in cross-border investigations proved invaluable when he was selected to lead and establish KPMG's FTS team in Shanghai, introducing methodologies and technologies consistent with the firm's US practices, and driving the growth of the Asia Pacific FTS practices.

Currently, David takes on a national leadership role in KPMG's Cyber Response Services, where he oversees the delivery of innovative solutions for cyber threats. In this position, he has worked on various matters involving trusted insiders, hacktivist groups, and state-sponsored threats. David's testimony and expert witness experience extend to state court and Federal Grand Jury appearances, and he has also worked as a court-appointed neutral in several cases.

David is an accomplished researcher and speaker, with several awards and recognitions to his name, including a Consulting Magazine's 35 Under 35 award in 2019, and the 2012 forensic4cast award for writing the "best forensic article of the year." He has also been nominated twice for "forensic software of the year" for his innovations in the timeline analysis software space.

David's technical skills in cybersecurity are demonstrated by his achievements in various cybersecurity competitions, including 1st place in the 2012 CEIC MMA challenge, 2nd place in the 2016 SANS NetWars, and 1st place in the 2017 SANS NetWars.
