Dana Chicklas
Dana Chicklas, a communications strategist and supervisor at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan, is an experienced journalist and advocate for equity building in the criminal justice system. With a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English from University of Michigan and a Master's degree in Special Education and Teaching from Alliant International University-San Francisco Bay, Chicklas has a deep understanding of media and digital strategy. She has worked as a senior reporter at WXMI-TV and a reporter, anchor, and producer at WHAG-TV, among other news organizations.
In addition to her journalism experience, Chicklas has worked as a department chair of special education and resource specialist teacher at the Oakland Unified School District. Her work at the ACLU of Michigan focuses on strategic communications to build equity in the community and the criminal justice system. Chicklas's thorough understanding of the court system and the legislative process enable her to lead media and digital strategy while advocating for justice.
