Dan West is the Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) for Health and Care in Northern Ireland at the Department of Health. He plays a crucial role in leveraging data and technology to enhance health and care services in the region and ensure a sustainable future for healthcare. As a key member of the Department of Health board, Dan oversees strategic planning, policy formulation, funding allocation, governance, decision-making, and system-wide design.
With over 20 years of experience in driving technological transformations in central government and healthcare sectors globally, Dan brings a wealth of expertise to his current role. He collaborates closely with various entities within the health and care ecosystem, including the Health and Social Care Board, Public Health Authority, Business Services Organisation, Trusts, GP community, and academic and private sector partners, to advance digital initiatives and improve health outcomes.
Dan West holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle University and is an alumnus of Kirkham Grammar School. Prior to his current position, he served as a Director at NHS Digital and held leadership roles at Accenture as the Managing Director and progressed from an Analyst to Senior Manager.
