Dan Carol

Dan Carol is a Senior Director in the Milken Institute's Center for Financial Markets, where he leads programming on climate resilient infrastructure and public finance.12 His work focuses on accelerating the deployment and financing of community-scale and climate-resilient infrastructure, scaling up regional innovation, and expanding public-private partnerships.23

Prior to joining the Milken Institute, Carol had a distinguished career in both government and private sectors:

1. He worked for California Governors Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom, directing the state's Opportunity Zones working group and serving on the Executive Committee of the US Climate Alliance.12

2. Carol served in the Obama Administration as a member of the US Department of Energy State Energy Advisory Board.12

3. He led efforts to create the West Coast Infrastructure Exchange, which won the 2015 Harvard Ash Center award for government innovation.12

4. In the private sector, Carol co-founded two clean energy acceleration groups: The Apollo Alliance and the Clean Economy Network.12

5. He founded CTSG, a 70-person online civic engagement company and software company, which was sold in 2004.12

Carol's political experience includes serving as a US Presidential Management Fellow and as a senior campaign advisor to the Clinton-Gore 1992 and Obama-Biden 2008 campaigns.12 He has also been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University.12

Regarding his education, Dan Carol holds a BA from the University of Michigan and a Master's in Regional Planning (MRP) from the University of North Carolina.12
