Dan Abelon
Dan Abelon is a Partner at Two Sigma Ventures, where he has been since 2015. He specializes in investing in data-driven enterprise and consumer startups. Prior to his role at Two Sigma, Dan was both an entrepreneur and an investor, with a focus on areas such as data science, healthcare IT, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Notably, he co-founded SpeedDate, a live-video online dating service that utilized real-time matching algorithms and was acquired by IAC.
Dan's career also includes experience at IBM, Lazard’s Technology M&A Group, and a brief stint at the World Bank in the Philippines, where he researched investments in technology and bamboo processing. He began his professional journey as the founder of Campus Pages, a phone directory publishing business.
In terms of education, Dan holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Columbia University. Outside of work, he enjoys activities such as Citibiking, playing keytar, mentoring founders in emerging markets, and promoting voter turnout in the United States.
