Meet Rachel Leiken, a recent graduate of Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies and Ethnic Studies. At Brown, she was highly involved in extracurricular activities, such as Brown RISD Hillel and Brown SAT Prep. As the Vice President for Religious and Spiritual Life and the leader of the Reform Minyan at Hillel, Rachel worked diligently to plan and execute innovative programs that engaged people with diverse religious beliefs and practices. She also has experience with community organizing through her internship at Jobs with Justice. Rachel's academic work focused on the intersections of race, religion, gender, and other identity categories in social justice work. She wrote a senior honors thesis based on her interviews with activists engaged in racial justice work around the country. In addition, Rachel has an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School, and she previously worked as a research assistant at the Research Institute for Innovation and Education at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is passionate about using religion to motivate social justice work and activism, and her experiences make her highly qualified to contribute to communities and organizations focused on these goals.
