Craig Ciesla
Craig Ciesla is a Scottish physicist turned high-tech executive with a passion for science and technology. Educated at Heriot-Watt University, Ciesla holds both a BSc and PhD in Applied Physics. After working on semiconductor devices at Toshiba Research Europe Ltd, he moved on to the technology companies Kaiam Corporation, Illumina, JDSU, Bookham, and Ignis Optics. At Illumina, Ciesla held various leadership roles, including Vice President of Engineering and Vice President of Advanced Engineering. He also co-founded Tactus Technology, where he served as CEO. Ciesla is currently the Vice President, Head of Advanced Platforms and Devices at Illumina, where he is involved in DNA sequencing research. He has previously served on the Industrial Advisory Board for the Department of NanoEngineering at the University of California, San Diego, and as an Advisory Board Member for Lightwave Logic, Inc.
