Colin Risner

Colin Risner is a seasoned freelance development consultant and manager with an impressive 25 years of experience working in 25 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe. His expertise lies in collaborating with various bilateral and multilateral donors to design, implement, and review programs.

During his tenure as the CEO of the $100 million Shiree Challenge Fund from 2010 to 2014, Colin oversaw the successful transition of 1 million Bangladeshis out of extreme poverty. Additionally, he served as the Program Director for the $12 million Ebola Community Action Platform from October 2014 to March 2015, where he led the mobilization of 76 partner organizations and 3,000 communities in Liberia to combat the Ebola epidemic, reaching 2 million people.

Colin's recent endeavors have been concentrated in Nepal, where he played a pivotal role in post-earthquake reconstruction program design in 2015 and civil society strengthening in 2016. His education background includes a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Alliance Manchester Business School and a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Throughout his career, Colin has held various key positions in esteemed organizations such as Development Advisor, Mercy Corps, Ecorys UK, The IDL Group (part of GRM Futures Group), among others. His diverse experience spans from leading post-earthquake reconstruction programs to consulting and lecturing on economics.
