    Christoph Rudiger

    Team Leader - Hydrological Modelling

    Christoph Rudiger is an environmental engineer with over 15 years of experience in land surface hydrology and satellite-based monitoring of Essential Climate Variables (ECVs). He has conducted passive microwave satellite campaigns in Australia's outback and deserts.

    He serves as the inaugural director of the Monash-Bosch AgTech LaunchPad and his recent research focuses on the impact of climate extremes on bushfires, droughts, and agriculture/forests using Earth Observation data. With a passion for sustainability, he aims to develop tools for a sustainable future.

    Educationally, Christoph holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Data Assimilation from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Groundwater Contamination from RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. He also studied Environmental Engineering during a Study Abroad program at the University of Newcastle.

    Having a strong teaching background, he has spent a decade teaching water-related subjects in higher education. Christoph is an author of over 70 peer-reviewed journal papers, more than 160 conference submissions, and has supervised the completion of 10 post-graduate candidates.

    His professional journey includes roles such as Team Leader at the Bureau of Meteorology, Adjunct Associate Professor, Director Graduate Research (Civil Engineering), and Head of Water Engineering at Monash University. He also held positions as Associate Professor, Director of Monash AgTech LaunchPad, Senior Lecturer, Deputy Director of Research Training, Lecturer, and PostDoc at various institutions in Australia and abroad.
