Charles Belle
Executive Director, Startup Policy Lab
Charles Belle is the founder and CEO of Startup Policy Lab (SPL), a non-profit organization that focuses on shaping public policies influenced by emerging technologies. His expertise lies in fields like open data, privacy, procurement reform, drone policy, and law enforcement data requests. Apart from his professional commitments, Charles actively participates in the City and County of San Francisco's Committee on Information Technology (COIT) as an appointed public member. He is also affiliated with Stanford University's Center for Internet and Society as a non-residential Fellow. With a solid educational background, Charles holds a BA in Economics and Political Science, an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and a JD with a concentration in Intellectual Property from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Throughout his career, he has received grants from prestigious foundations like the Kauffman Foundation, Knight Foundation, and Sunlight Foundation.
