Carey Ransom

Carey Ransom is a prominent technology entrepreneur and executive, currently serving as the Founder and President of Operate, a venture studio based in Southern California. Operate focuses on investing in and supporting data-centric SaaS startups by providing both capital and operational expertise to enhance their growth potential. Since its inception, Operate has partnered with nearly 30 founders to maximize their launch velocity and success.124

Ransom has a rich background in the tech industry, having started, grown, and led multiple B2B and consumer technology companies. His previous roles include Chief Operating Officer at Aspiration, Chief Marketing Officer at Happy Money, and CEO of RealPractice. Throughout his career, he has been involved in ventures that have collectively raised over $250 million in capital and achieved significant enterprise valuations.134

In addition to his work with Operate, Ransom is also the Managing Director at BankTech Ventures, which focuses on strategic investments in technologies for community banks. His extensive experience spans various roles in product, marketing, business development, and corporate development, making him a well-rounded leader in the tech ecosystem.23

Ransom holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a B.A. in Economics from Indiana University. He is actively engaged in the Southern California startup community and has served on various boards, including OCTANe and the CEO Leadership Alliance of Orange County. He is also the host of the Operate Podcast, where he interviews innovators and entrepreneurs to explore their insights and experiences.134
