Calvin Spanbauer
Yenching Scholar at Peking University
Calvin Spanbauer is a Ph.D. student in the Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy (STEP) program at Princeton's School of Public and International Affairs.124 He previously worked as a transportation system analyst at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).124 Calvin holds a Master's in China Studies from Peking University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Ohio State University.124
In his current research, Calvin investigates the sociopolitical dynamics of energy transitions in the U.S., China, and Germany.124 His aim is to facilitate a more nuanced understanding of demand-side energy policies across these three countries and improve the management of sociopolitical responses in energy transitions.124
Before his Ph.D. studies, Calvin also worked as a power market reform intern at RMI and an energy and environmental policy intern at China Policy.124 During his undergraduate years at Ohio State, he was involved in various campus activities, including Undergraduate Student Government, Buckeye Undergraduate Consulting Club, and the Global Leadership Initiative.3
