Technology Practice Intern

I worked in-office creating and planning daily outreach communication as well as monthly content calendars. Additionally, I worked seven showcases and the final award night publishing content and media coverage of showcases and the award show via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In doing this, I was responsible for setting the tone of the evening for our online followers while also securing coverage for our brand partners (RedBull, PopChips, AudioFly and Uber) as well as the musicians at each showcase. This resulted in stronger relationships with our partners as well as a joint online presence with every artist and band. During each event I provided on-site support. This entailed assisting the producers, facilitating communication between judges, hosts, and musicians, ensuring time-schedule continuity, and overseeing and assisting in set up/tear down. I had a wonderful time working with OC Music Awards and improved my understanding of event production, delegation, and music-related marketing.

Social Media Intern/Event Assistant

My time at The ACE Agency enabled me to hone many vital public relations skills.  I increased my social media prowess through daily social media outreach via Hootsuite for multiple clients. I also drew upon my creativity and pop culture knowledge to create monthly content calendars for clients ranging from Burke Williams Day Spa to the band, Collective Soul. I was able to utilize my fluency in AP Style to edit press releases and blog content via WordPress for clients including OC Parks and craft beer festival producer, OC Brew Ha Ha .  Additionally, I provided on-site support for various events such as The Golden Foodie Awards and The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor and CHILL festivities.

Public Relations Intern

I was selected as one of five members of the 2013 Chapman team participating in PRSA's Bateman Case Study Competition, the most prestigious PR competition in the nation. I was responsible for leading the team in creating, implementing, and evaluating a full campaign targeting middle school students and their parents.  We aimed to raise awareness and provide solutions against bullying. This experience led to invaluable lessons in teamwork and strategy implementation while providing a real-world glimpse into life beyond the classroom.  While this project was a team effort, I was accountable for fostering relationships with school principals, teachers, and parent organizations in the Orange County community. This entailed multiple forms of communication including scheduling and attending meetings with school administrations, speaking at parent organization meetings, and on-site interaction with students. Additionally, I created campaign literature for public distribution and copy for our final campaign book.

Working at such a renowned, global agency allowed me to better comprehend the details and tasks required to produce client results on a large scale.  I was responsible for maintaining strong B2C relationships with clients such as Jenny Craig and TMobile through project decks and event recaps. I was also assigned to a team tasked with creating a full marketing plan for Pepsi's Feed 8 Billion by 2030 initiative (included below).  Although a fictitious plan, the project provided insight into the technical aspects of arranging a marketing plan and communicating with people in departments outside public relations. In addition to standard administrative tasks, I compiled meeting overviews and recaps as well as created and distributed promotional material. I also provided support before, during, and after events and promotions including a a Jenny Craig segment on the entertainment show Extra!

Brand Marketing Intern

This internship was a wonderful opportunity for me to impart what I had learned in my courses at Chapman to the work I was given at AFCO.  I refined my AP Style knowledge while writing multiple media pitches, client biographies, and press releases for clients including Wente Vineyards and the restaurant M.Y. China. I was responsible for compiling media lists and tracking client press hits during two crucial company projects (Eat Drink SF and La Boulange's transition to Starbucks). I also developed editorial calendars and highlighted client coverage opportunities.
