Tara Akhavan, Ph.D. is a successful entrepreneur and pioneer in perceptual display processing technology for the consumer and automotive industry. She currently serves as the President of Faurecia IRYStec Inc., an innovation center that specializes in eye-friendly displays for vehicles. Prior to founding IRYStec, Tara obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, and a Ph.D. in Image Processing and Computer Vision from Vienna University of Technology. She has an extensive background including working as a technologist and entrepreneur in residence at TandemLaunch, and working on Operations and Maintenance Center (OMC) products in the telecommunications industry. Tara has raised and helped raise more than $8M in angel and VC funding, and has received numerous awards recognizing her contributions to technology and entrepreneurship, such as being named one of Canada's top 20 innovative startups by CIX and Entrepreneur of the Year by EoY Canada in 2019. She serves on multiple committees and is the marketing vice-chair for the Society of Information Displays (SID). Tara's experience and expertise in the field of technology, combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, have earned her a well-deserved reputation as a visionary leader in the industry.
