Director/Head of Internal Communications

I led internal communications and employee experience for two of the three business units within Symantec; working directly with Executive Leadership Team members and their directs to create a strategy that aligns with company goals, vision and values, then executing against that strategy in order fully engage employees in the business and mission of the company.

- Served as business unit lead for all employee communications activities and events related to the $2.3B acquisition and integration of LifeLock into the Symantec Consumer Business Unit, leading to the best possible employee experience and a successful, issue free Day 1
- Led the planning and delivery of pulse surveys within the BU to capture employee feedback and drive communications, analyzing and then using that data to integrate into communications strategy
- Saw an almost unheard of 16% increase in Employee Engagement and 9% increase in Trust in Leadership scores from year prior, both directly tied to improved employee and executive communications
- Transformed corporate meetings, and increased employee engagement and attendance, executing live video broadcasts (versus audio conference only), increasing participation 40% through new technologies, and saving an average of $25k in production costs each year
- Created new company-wide video series to shine light on key projects, programs and people throughout the organization. I produce these videos myself, saving the company $75k annually.
- Led the transition to new intranet platform [Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)], and in the process, built out an entirely new presence for each BU on the company intranet

Symantec

Sr. Manager, Employee Communications, Culture & Experience

• Responsible for creating and executing global internal communications strategy for Social Innovation at eBay Inc.
• Led Social Innovation sustainability (CSR) employee engagement programs globally for 32,000+ employees. 
• Manage eBay Inc's industry leading global Green Team program, made up of 39 teams and over 3200 employee volunteers from around the world. 
• Created and managed the “Little Bits of Good” employee engagement program and platform; designed to educate, inform and engage employees on social innovation; surpassed goal of 10% engagement reaching 17% within year one. 
• Responsible for creating and managing global newsletter program. Consisted of content creation and procurement, working with vendor and CMS software, and distribution to employees monthly. 
• Led social media globally across eBay Inc. In a two-year period of time, moved eBay Green's social media program from being unranked to third on the SMI-Wizness Social Media Sustainability Index.
• Led community engagement program for our 300,000 member community Green Team. Created and ran multiple engagement campaigns and managed online community platform, which included forums, community Q&A & tips sections, and all social aspects.
• Worked closely with executive staff, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, to organize and facilitate the annual employee gift volunteer program.

eBay

Global Manager, Social Innovation Employee Engagement & Communications

Planned and oversaw execution of North America Customer Support employee engagement and events & rewards programs, as well as community outreach and events. Design and develop new, as well as ongoing, North American Reward & Recognition programs. Collaborate with Operations VP and Directorial team to fully deliver such programs for North America Customer Support. 

Created North America Customer Support's first overall Community Engagement strategy.
Led eBay CS community events initiatives; which includes employee volunteerism, event sponsorships and planning & facilitation of all external event opportunities.

The community outreach program that I created and led is a 5-time winner of the Best of State Award in the category of Large Corporation - Community Involvement

Led a team of three employee engagement specialists in two North American locations (Vancouver, BC & Salt Lake City, UT) 

Responsible for managing a nearly two million dollar annual budget. I kept this same budget for four years, while increasing the overall number of rewards and recognition programs and adding an entirely new community engagement program.

Manager, Employee & Community Engagement

Led the customization and delivery of all NACS (North America Customer Support) employee events, meetings and rewards & recognition programs. 

Acted as a liaison between the Community Team and NACS leadership to assist with Community Open Houses and Town Hall events.

Organized customer support team presence at annual eBay Live! community conference - which ranged in size from 8,000 - 15,000 attendees - including staffing support and training; as well as assisting in the development of collateral, signage, and learning/discussion sessions.

Serve as chair for SLC GIVE Team, a local part of the eBay Foundation. We work with local charities and non-profits to facilitate local fundraisers, sponsor charity events and review and disperse grants through the Foundation.

Sr. Events & Rewards Specialist

Managed a team who handled International Prohibited Items and fraud prevention policies on the eBay trading platform.  Worked directly with legal counsel in the United States, Canada, UK and Australia to effectively monitor and handle all potential issues that could arise and have an impact on the company.  Helped to establish numerous current policies, bring them in line with international laws and effectively enforce them on the eBay site.

Chosen to create and head the Global Prohibited Items department based in Vancouver, BC. Grew this group from 10 highly specialized agents, to a world class group of 60 employees on 4 teams, across 3 different shifts, operating at the highest service levels within the global organization.
