Gailyn Portelance

Gailyn Portelance is a Stanford University master's candidate in International Policy with a strong focus on tech policy, internet policy, and content governance and security.

With a background in managing high-level policy initiatives and directing complex project work streams, Gailyn has a wealth of experience in various sectors including the U.S. federal government, international organizations, NGOs, and research institutions.

As a quantitative policy researcher, Gailyn is particularly passionate about topics such as human rights, ethical development of AI, combatting online dis/misinformation and hate speech, evidence-based policymaking, and African politics and development.

Having worked in countries like Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal, Gailyn is fluent in both English and French and is keen on making meaningful contributions in these areas.

Gailyn's educational background includes a Master of Arts from Stanford University, a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and French from Pomona College, and study at the Ciee Study Center in Dakar, Senegal.

Gailyn has held various roles in organizations such as the Center for Global Development, World Bank Group, Stanford University's Technology and Public Purpose Project, The Energy for Growth Hub, and the Federal Trade Commission, among others.
