Brian Rumao

Brian Rumao is the Managing Director at Next Play Ventures, where he collaborates with founding partner Jeff Weiner to coach and invest in entrepreneurial leaders focused on building purpose-driven companies. His role involves not only investment but also mentorship for early-stage startups.14

Before joining Next Play Ventures in May 2020, Rumao had a significant tenure at LinkedIn, where he served as Vice President and Chief of Staff to both the CEO and the Executive Chairman. During his time at LinkedIn, he was instrumental in managing strategic initiatives, launching cross-functional programs, and overseeing the integration process following Microsoft's acquisition of LinkedIn in 2016. He initially joined LinkedIn in 2012 as part of the Business Operations team, where he focused on growth strategies.123

Rumao's career began at McKinsey & Company as a consultant, and he holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. He has also served on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula and was a First Mover Fellow at the Aspen Institute.124
