Brendan Smith

Brendan Smith is an experienced engineer based in Austin, TX, with a strong background in mechanical and fluid system design, fabrication, integration, and test. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering with Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Brain & Cognitive Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and is currently a candidate for his Doctor of Philosophy in Systems Engineering at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.

Smith has worked on multiple engineering projects, starting from being a Civil/Structural Field Engineer - Intern at Black & Veatch, an Aeronautics/Astronautics Undergraduate Researcher, Man-Vehicle Laboratory at MIT, Satellite Payload Integration & Test / Rocket Propulsion Test Engineer at Orbital Sciences Corporation, to a Senior Launch Engineer, Mission Operations at Stratolaunch. He then moved on to become a Senior Integration Engineer, Rocket Engine and Launch Vehicle, and later Senior Production & Test Engineer, Propulsion / Fluid Systems / Welding at Firefly Aerospace. Currently, Smith is working as the Lead Propulsion Engineer, Blue Ghost Lunar Lander, still at Firefly Aerospace.

Smith is proficient in different software engineering languages such as C/C++, Visual Basic, MATLAB/Simulink, Javascript, and is aiming to transition to Austin IT opportunities. He was also the Founder and Chief Engineer of the "Design-Prototype-Test" Educational Laboratories at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, showcasing his ability to start and manage his own professional projects.
