    Brendan O'Leary

    Brendan O'Leary is the Managing Director of AllosteRx Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm focusing on life sciences opportunities in under-ventured regions and institutions. He co-founded this venture in 2018.

    Before his current role, Brendan held the position of the founding Executive Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Business Development at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS), establishing a company creation and collaboration platform. He continues to act as a special advisor and External Co-Chair of UMass' Strategic Product Development committee.

    Previously, Brendan led the life sciences practice at Prism Venture Management, a prominent Boston-based venture capital firm managing over $1.25B. During his tenure spanning nearly 15 years, he evaluated and mentored a multitude of life science companies, holding investment positions and board seats in various ventures. Some notable Prism investments include Alacer Biomedical Inc., Atritech, BioRexis Pharmaceutical Corp., Proteon Therapeutics, Serica Technologies, and Trius Therapeutics.

    Brendan's professional journey commenced at IGEN International, a medical diagnostics company acquired by Roche, and Meso Scale Discovery, a high-throughput drug discovery start-up. As an accomplished scientist, he has numerous publications, inventions, and commercialized products to his name.

    He holds a PhD in organic chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a BA in chemistry and economics from Middlebury College. Additionally, Brendan is a Kauffman Fellow. Outside of his professional endeavors, he contributes to the New Life Furniture Bank of Massachusetts by serving on its board, aiding in providing furniture and household items to those in need.
