Bogomil Balkansky

Bogomil Balkansky is a Partner at Sequoia Capital, a prominent venture capital firm.1 He joined Sequoia in January 2020 and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.1

Prior to joining Sequoia, Balkansky had an extensive career in the technology industry:

1. He served as Vice President at Google from December 2015 to August 2018, leading the go-to-market team for the emerging Recruiting Solutions product line within Google Cloud.1

2. Before Google, he worked at bebop.co from July 2013 to December 2015, which was later acquired by Google for $397 million.1

3. Balkansky spent over 7 years at VMware as Senior Vice President of Cloud Infrastructure Products, playing a key role in establishing VMware's server virtualization product as an industry standard.1

In his role at Sequoia Capital, Balkansky focuses on investing in early-stage companies, particularly in areas such as cloud infrastructure, developer tools, DevOps, open source, observability, and SaaS applications for sales and marketing.3 He currently serves on the boards of several companies, including Chainguard, Mutiny, Bigeye, Temporal Technologies, Release, and Cortex.1

Balkansky holds an MBA in General Management from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Mathematics from Cornell University.1 He is multilingual, speaking Russian, German, Bulgarian, and Chinese.1

Outside of his professional life, Balkansky is an avid home chef and wildlife explorer/photographer. He maintains a cooking blog under the moniker "Chef Bogie".2
