    Bill Mott is a seasoned professional with over 35 years of experience in building networks and coalitions to promote collective action for a sustainable society, a healthy ocean, and a stable climate.

    As the former Executive Director of The Ocean Project, Bill spearheaded the development of a global network comprising 2,000+ organizations across 150+ countries, reaching over 500 million individuals annually. He focuses on advancing youth engagement, leadership, and advocacy for ocean and climate initiatives.

    With a Master of Environmental Management degree from Yale School of the Environment and a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from Cornell University, Bill's practical experience has been instrumental in his impactful career. He has played a crucial role in growing World Ocean Day into a globally recognized event with thousands of activities and extensive social media engagement. Additionally, he successfully petitioned the UN to officially designate 8 June as World Ocean Day.

    Bill collaborates closely with the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council, which has 140 members and alumni from 60 countries, to enhance the impact of World Ocean Day year-round. His passion lies in fostering collaborations for a more just, equitable, and sustainable society, along with a healthy planet.

    Throughout his career, Bill has held various leadership roles, including Executive Director at World Ocean Day, Executive Director at The Ocean Project, Program Manager at SeaWeb, Director at Marine Fish Conservation Network, and Program Specialist at Ocean Conservancy. His expertise lies in strategic communications, campaign development, advocacy, and youth leadership in ocean and climate conservation.

    Bill's dedication to creating synergies and driving positive change has been evident in his work, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in achieving environmental sustainability and a healthier world.
