Bill McCoy is a prominent figure in the software industry, specializing in open standards with a career spanning over two decades.
He has worked in various capacities at renowned companies such as Adobe Systems and PictureIQ, focusing on technologies like PostScript, PDF, digital publishing, and image and video transcoding.
Bill served as the General Manager of Digital Publishing at Adobe and later held the position of Executive Director at the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF), a significant industry association that standardized the EPUB format for eBooks based on HTML and Web Standards.
Subsequently, he played a crucial role in merging IDPF into the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and assumed the responsibility of Head of the Publishing Activity at W3C. Concurrently, he led as the President of the Readium Foundation open source consortium.
Educationally, Bill studied Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and continued his education at Stanford University.
